A Silver Lining to No Deal at Copenhagen?

Many of us were pretty upset a few weeks ago when world leaders announced that no official binding treaty would be produced from the upcoming negotiations. How could they just postpone taking real, concrete actions on these overwhelming problems?

A recent Newsweek article discusses some potential positive outcomes from these negotiations (even without a worldwide treaty), such as having more time to incorporate better technology into solutions or taking into account non-CO2 sources of greenhouse gases.

Is there an advantage to not rushing into serious commitments?

Would this push countries to make changes individually?

What impact will this have on climate legislation in the United States?

We'll be thinking about these issues more and discussing them with other youth that we meet abroad...
Stay tuned for more discussion!
